Understanding the Crisis

Human Trafficking Dashboard

Explore comprehensive data and insights on human trafficking across Maryland's Eastern Shore, empowering communities to take informed action.

What is the Dashboard

The Human Trafficking Dashboard is a publicly accessible, interactive tool that brings together data from multiple sources to highlight human trafficking trends across Maryland and the broader region. It is designed to improve transparency and help communities, service providers, and agencies understand where trafficking signals and identified cases appear over time and by location.

Data Sources & Methodology

The dashboard aggregates information from multiple trusted institutions and databases, including statewide hotline data, law enforcement reports, social services referrals, and trafficking-specific service providers. Data is periodically updated to reflect new reports or confirmed cases.

Using these combined data sets, the dashboard offers:

  • Counts of trafficking signals and confirmed cases
  • Breakdown by trafficking type (sex, labor, or other)
  • Demographic and age-related information when available
  • Geographic distribution by county or region
  • Trend analysis over time

Why It Matters for Our Community

This dashboard helps our Task Force and community partners to:

  • Monitor trending areas of concern in real time
  • Allocate resources and outreach where they are needed most
  • Inform prevention efforts, training, and community education
  • Support data-driven policy, advocacy, and collaboration

How to Use the Dashboard

  • Click the link or embedded frame to open the full interactive dashboard
  • Use filters to explore by date, county, trafficking type, or demographic variables
  • Use findings to support service planning, outreach strategies, or community briefings

Important Considerations

  • The data reflects only those cases or reports that have been submitted and recorded. Not all trafficking goes reported, so actual numbers may be higher.
  • A “signal” or “referral” may not always become a confirmed case; some entries remain under review or unverified.
  • Periodic updates may cause small fluctuations — trend interpretation should be done cautiously and in context.
